Ron Paul 4th Place in NH

Two of the latest opinion polls have Ron Paul in fourth place for the New Hampshire GOP Primary. The first, from Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, has Dr. Paul at 7%, tied with Mike Huckabee. The second, from the Boston Globe also has him at 7%, but ahead of Huckabee.

Some interesting things to note:

Boston Globe Poll
- 60% of Republican voters have not decided on a candidate
- Ron Paul is in 4th Place for "Which candidate is the strongest leader", "Which candidate can best deal with terrorism", "Which candidate has the most experience", and "Which candidate has the best chance of beating the Democratic nominee"

Marist Poll

- Paul breaks his tie with Huckabee among self-described "Republicans"
- He is polling at 18% among those who make less than $50,000 a year, putting him in third place behind only Romney and Giuliani.
- He is at 12% in the 18-44 age group, once again putting him only behind Romney and Giuliani.
- Paul is also in fourth place, beating Thompson and Huckabee, when asked "Who has the best chance of beating a Democrat"

The Libertarian Party

For some reason many Americans have a positive view of Libertarians, and why wouldn't they? When you think of Libertarians you think Drew Carey, Charlton Heston and Ron Paul. But few Americans actually take the time to read the positions of the Libertarian Party. If they did they'd realize that Libertarians tend to be semi anarchist and would be destructive in office. Here's what your life would be like under Libertarian leadership...

On Social Security...
The Libertarians say, " Every year, they take 12.4% of your income to prop up their failed Social Security system - a system that is heading toward bankruptcy. If you are an American earning the median income of $31,695 per year, and were given the option of investing that same amount of money in a stock mutual fund, you would retire a millionaire - without winning the lottery or a TV game show."
A Common Sense Liberal Response: That's right everybody, the Libertarians want you to trust your retirement with the same people who brought you the Enron scandal. Why would you want to fix some thing that's not broken anyways? In a Libertarian system granny would be living in a box out on the street because her money was stolen by the crooks on Wal Street.

On Health Care...
The Libertarians say, "We should repeal all government policies that increase health costs and decrease the availability of medical services. For example, every state has laws that mandate coverage of specific disabilities and diseases. These laws reduce consumer choice and increase the cost of health insurance. By making insurance more expensive, mandated benefits increase the number of uninsured American workers."
A Common Sense Liberal Response: This means no more FDA. Medical companies would have a frenzy without regulation. As for you're health care coverage, lets just say you probably shouldn't expect you're plan to cover anything worse than a common head cold.

On Taxes...
The Libertarians say, "It doesn't have to be that way. With less government and lower taxes, you could keep more of what you earn. It would be easier to start new businesses, build new homes, and fuel stronger economic growth."
A Common Sense Liberal Approach: Yes, you can keep more of your income, hell you can keep all of your income as long as your willing to pay out of pocket for fire fighters, police protection, and your children's education.

On Welfare and Poverty...
The Libertarians say, " We should eliminate the entire social welfare system. This includes eliminating AFDC, food stamps, subsidized housing, and all the rest. Individuals who are unable to fully support themselves and their families through the job market must, once again, learn to rely on supportive family, church, community, or private charity to bridge the gap."
A Common Sense Liberal Response: Yes lets rely on organizations that have proven to be unreliable. Lets push families that need a little bit of extra help into poverty. Maybe this will be one of those situations where cannibalism become acceptable like in Stalinist Russia.

That's just a small sample of crazy Libertarian ideas. Feel free to go to http://www.lp.org/issues/issues.shtml to explore what your life would be like in a Libertarian Anarchy State.

Anonymous, you're forgetting something very important. Ron Paul is first and foremost a Constitutionalist. You say that if a person was to save the money that they would normally put into Soc. Sec. for their retirement, they would lose it anyway due to to the failure of a "mutual fund". Hey, under Dr. Paul, the IRS AND The Federal Reserve would be gone! Our dollar would be put back on a trustworthy Gold & Silver standard, which would PROTECT it from losing it's value. Granny would be sitting pretty.... today she can barely keep her house warm... Wake Up! NONE of the money collected through federal income taxes goes to police, firedepartments, ect. The vast MAJORITY goes to paying off the National Debt... which is owed to the Federal Bankers! Ron Paul is NOT against ALL taxes, and anyone that says so is an idiot. Common sense dictates that a DEGERR of taxation is necessary to keep society functioning on a civil level. But can you HONESTLY tell me that you APPROVE of all of the taxation that we are under? If you do, then you are hopeless... it's probably best that you go crawl up under a socialist coattail somewhere and wait out the loss of the few remaining freedoms we have.... it's folks with non-Constitutional ideals that wil DESTROY this country...
